Hello friends and Keanu lovers I am going on a 4 day backpacking trip and thought I should leave you with some less known Keanu movies to watch.
First on the list is:
The Night Before
Winston Connelly wakes up in the middle of the night in an alley with no idea of how he got there. Nor does he know where in Los Angeles he is or why he is wearing a beat-up tuxedo. Through a series of flashbacks, he remembers that he was sidetracked on his way to the prom the night before. In the meantime, he has to figure out what happened to his wallet, his car keys, his date, and why a pimp named “Tito” wants him dead.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the film. Also this will help you understand little references in the musical as well!
I know this isn’t a Keanu post but I felt that I needed to share this great film They Came Together directed by David Wain and written by him and Michael Showalter. They are also the masterminds behind one of my all time favorite movies Wet Hot American Summer. So, you could only imagine the excitement that rushed through my body when I saw they CAME TOGETHER to make another movie! (also get it…I used the title of their film about them coming together…yeah, play on words…but maybe not really…anyway). The film is a rip on all the Romantic Comedy cliches with perfectly timed jokes that leave you laughing through out the whole movie.
Can rent this movie now on Amazon for $6.99!
The reason I’m sharing this with you is because I want to thank them for doing what they’ve been doing for years! With out them I don’t think I would be where I am now with my musical. The ridiculousness that are in their movies really inspired me to grab hold of the silly and never let go.
So, here I am, 4 years later still holding onto my Keanu! The Musical silliness and I couldn’t be happier. These movies really inspire me to keep going and not to give up because in the end I just want to make people laugh and I believe this musical will do that!
Thank you David Wain
Thank you Michael Showalter
Thank you the cast of Wet Hot American Summer and They Came Together.
Hope to see you when my musical opens on Broadway!
It may take people a few days, months, or years to understand the magic and beauty of Keanu Reeves.
Check out Anne Billson’s article on her doubt of Keanu and how it changed.
Keanu Reeves, I’m Sorry I Doubted You
I was just like Anne Billson, thinking Keanu was terrible and could only play the stoner characters that had no depth. Boy, was I wrong. Once I really started to research Keanu for the musical I began to see the kindness that was in him and how serious he took his career as an actor. He’s professional, generous, and down to Earth. He’s not your typical Hollywood actor, trying to stay out of the lime light instead of in it. I have great respect for him and my musical only reflects that.
All I have to say is Thank you Keanu!
We are all aware that sandwiches don’t make Keanu happy but that leaves the question…what makes him happy?
As we see in this image it goes from being bummed about his sandwich to being, ok with some juice and looking semi satisfied with his cupcake. What is the one super food that gets him smiling? Is it steak or a nice taco salad?
Maybe it’s just a nice slice of NYC Pizza to put a smile on his face. Or perhaps a Birthday cake with his face on smattered in icing to crack a grimace across his vacant gaze.
Maybe it’s not food that makes him happy. Maybe it’s just something as simple as running through an open field with a friend. How could you be sad about that? Oh, wait! Look at his face…HE’S HAPPY! HE’S REALLY HAPPY!
So, everyone please have a Happy Friday and Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!
Thank you South Park for understanding the magic and power of Keanu Reeves.
Synopsis of the “Best Friend Forever” Episode: In Heaven, Kenny learns that God created the PSP to search for the person who can command his legions against the forces of Hell in a manner like that of the video game. They need someone skilled enough to defeat an army of 10 billion damned souls with only 10 thousand troops. Basically, he is “Keanu Reeves”.
Michael (Archangel): Basically, Kenny, you…are Keanu Reeves.
Need a fun Keanu laugh. This is it!
One of the only redeemable parts in Keanu’s 2012 film Generation Um…
Keanu! The Musical Table reading Cast:
Front Row: Matt Jackson, Monica Leong, Matt McMonagle, David Carr Berry, Max McCal, Laura Lahti, Adam Amler, Adam Van Derr Veer, and ME-Stacie Sells. Back Row: Andrew Rahman and Kevin VanScoder
This picture explains it all. The excitement. The Fun. And the shock at how great the response I got from the cast and the audience. You have no idea the joy a writer gets when they hear their words spoken. It was scary and exciting at the same time, leaving my face looking like that in the picture for most of the reading. And where to begin with the actors? I was so thrilled with my cast. They absolutely killed it and I could not have done it with out them!!! It’s amazing how much they brought life into the characters and in ways I never would have expected or guessed. BIG THANKS TO THEM!
Also this reading was the first time sound and visuals were included by Andrew Rahman. It brought the musical to a whole new level and I can’t wait to work with him more. And as always must give props to the great narrator, Kevin VanScoder making sure the audience could visualize the setting and scenes during the table reading.
There will be more pictures to come from the reading but right now I just want to SHOUT FROM THE ROOF TOPS how amazingly, magical the reading was and I can’t wait to take my notes and make this play even better!
I can’t believe my musical baby is growing up so fast!
